  • 5 students earn week-long STEM experience at Indiana University

    Five Scecina students will spend a week in July living in a dorm at Indiana University in Bloomington and attending biology classes, while also having some campus fun. 

    They have been accepted into the Jim Holland Summer Enrichment Program at IU. This is an opportunity for high-achieving, underrepresented high school students “to broaden their horizons in genetics, evolution, environmental biology, molecular biology, plant sciences, and more,” according to the IU website. ...     My name is Joe Brettnacher, and I serve as Principal of Scecina Memorial High School. I'd like to tell you about a program that is unique to the State of Indiana. I want to make sure that you are aware of its existence because of the powerful impact it can have on a student's education and college plans, and it is important for families to know about it when their child is in eighth grade.
