2014 Summer Reading List

All students are required to read at least one book. In addition, students in an Honors English class, AP Language class, or AP Literature class are required to read a second book of their choice from the list provided. It is recommended that students keep a journal with a brief summary, relevant facts, names, themes, or other important information about the book/books they read. Students will be assessed on the books within the first two weeks of school.

Freshmen- English 9A and Honors

  • English 9A students must read Fahrenheit 451 (Bradbury).
  • English 9 Honors students must read Fahrenheit 451 (Bradbury) AND one book from the Choice List below.

Sophomores- English 10A and Honors

  • English 10A students must read The Old Man and the Sea (Hemingway)
  • English 10 Honors must read The Old Man and the Sea (Hemingway) AND one book from the Choice List below.
