Course Request Guide

Thank you for taking the next step in completing your student’s registration. Please use this guide as an aid during your next steps in the registration process. For members of the Class of 2016 who were not unable to attend Course Request Meetings in early February, please contact Ms. Allie Ross at 356-6377 Ext. 1312 or admissions@scecina.org to schedule an appointment.

Because of the importance of parental knowledge and involvement, we will schedule classes only if a parent or guardian is present. After you have selected and requested courses, both parent and student will be notified if a course requested becomes unavailable.

    Course Catalog – This catalog describes the classes that will be offered at Scecina during the 2012-2013 school year, and will help you and your child decide the classes he or she can take during the freshman year.

    Course Request Form – After reading through the Course Catalog, you and your child should complete the Course Request Form to bring with you when you schedule classes. The form indicates classes that must be taken during the freshman year. Blank spaces are provided for you to choose the remaining classes; simply enter the course number and name in the blank. Your required subjects and corresponding course choices are as follows:

    • English is required. You choose: Honors or Academic English.
    • Math is required. You choose: Honors or Academic Algebra.
    • Students who have taken and mastered Algebra choose: Honors or Academic Geometry.
    • Biology is required. You choose: Honors or Academic Biology.
    • Electives can be chosen from the Course Catalog. We highly recommend that one elective be a world language.
    • Alternates are classes to take should your elective classes be unavailable.

    Course Request (Scheduling) Meeting – At Scecina, we schedule each student individually. Please bring your completed Course Request Form and the following materials--if not previously submitted--to your Course Request Meeting:

    • Application for Admission
    • 7th Grade ISTEP results
    • Most recent Report Card
    • Birth Certificate
    • Immunization Records
