  • Purdue alumni magazine tells inspiring story of Scecina grad Donald Winston '96

    On a cold day last January, a photographer for Purdue University’s alumni office set up her equipment in the middle of Scecina's gym. Her focus would be on Donald Winston, a 1996 Scecina graduate who excelled in football for the Crusaders and went on to a successful Division 1 career with the Boilermakers, including a trip to the 2001 Rose Bowl.

  • Scecina alumnus James Drury creates museum partnership to spark students’ interest in science and technology

    Chicago native James Drury graduated from Scecina in 1960, received his MBA and went on to form a successful management consultant firm in his hometown. 

    Oh, and he also happens to possess an aeronautical engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame. For 25 years he has been a member of the board of trustees for the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

  • Community Hospital executive speaks at Scecina networking event

    Scecina Memorial High School and Community East Hospital share a common history, as both were built in the same era and grew up together on Indianapolis’ Eastside. Scecina welcomed its first class in 1953; Community Hospital served its first patient three years later. Both remain anchor institutions on the Eastside. 

    Today Scecina and Community are partners in Eastside business and neighborhood development efforts and also in the school’s Health Occupations class, where students work at the hospital nearly each day to learn more about medical professions.
