  • 2018 Father Tom Service Award: Bill Bevan '63

    Bill Bevan has been around Scecina longer than most people. Current students know him mainly as the substitute teacher with the dry wit and sarcastic humor. They may not realize his long history with the school.

    On Oct. 24, Scecina President Joe Therber presented the Father Tom Service Award to Mr. Bevan for his long service and commitment to Scecina.   • Father Chris Wadelton honored for service to Catholic schools

    Father Chris Wadelton, priest at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and a member of Scecina Memorial High School’s Board of Directors, was honored by the National Catholic Educational Association for his commitment and service to Catholic schools.

    Father Chris received the NCEA’s “Lead. Learn. Proclaim” Award on April 3 at the NCEA’s annual convention and expo in Cincinnati. The award recognizes “excellence and distinguished service in Catholic school education.”

  • Scecina graduate's film on Sisters draws crowd back to school

    “So moving and so beautiful!” is how one movie reviewer described “A Sign of The Cross” after its Scecina premiere on January 29.

     More than 130 alumni, parents and friends attended the showing of “A Sign of the Cross,” a documentary by Scecina alumnus Jeannine “Andy” (Andersen) Murphy ’60 on a snowy afternoon. Her documentary, which has been aired on the Indianapolis PBS affiliate, WFYI, tells the story of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg. Many current sisters drove up from Oldenburg for the Scecina event.

    President Joe Therber also welcomed the Sisters, remarking on their long history with Scecina. He also introduced Andy and local TV news anchor Debby Knox, the film’s narrator.
