John Hegarty, the principal of Scecina Memorial High School, today announced this year’s valedictorian and salutatorian.
“Today I'm pleased to announce Jacqueline Kennedy (right) as the valedictorian and Robert Lee Beauregard “Bo” Sims as the salutatorian of the Class of 2017,” Mr. Hegarty said.
Jacqueline is the daughter of John and Cris Kennedy. Bo is the son of Gus Sims and Valerie Jackson-Sims.
Both are parishioners at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School.
"My experience at Scecina was challenging but very fulfilling spitually, mentally and physically," said Jacqueline.
"Going to Scecina has shown me how I'm not going to school with a bunch of random faces," said Bo. "I am going to school with people who became family and stayed by my side the whole way." Besides having stellar academic careers, both participated in many Scecina-related activities and took on leadership roles.
Jacqueline was a four-year cross country and track runner. She belongs to National Honor Society (NHS) and Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. She has participated in Key Club, Academic Super Bowl, Student Council and Crusaders for Life.
Bo played baseball four years for the Crusaders and tennis two years. He was on Student Council and served as class president each year. He also belongs to NHS and Rho Kappa. He has participated in Academic Super Bowl, Crusaders for Life, Student Ambassadors, Red and Gold Going Green, and performed in the 2016 Fall Play and the Spring Musical for two years.
Jacqueline wants to study mathematics or biomedical engineering and Bo wants to major in environmental science, although both are undecided on their choice of college. Stay tuned to find out how they decide.
