Crusader sports are a vibrant part of the Scecina experience
My name is Jason Kehrer and I am the Athletic Director for Scecina Memorial High School.
I want to tell you more about the athletic programs at Scecina to help you choose Scecina for your child’s high school experience.
How to become a Crusader
Scecina’s athletic programs reinforce self-discipline for the student-athletes by consistently maintaining rules, standards, and expectations. Students are encouraged to model Christ-like values and conduct themselves accordingly at school and in the wider community. Our student-athletes, coaches, and fans are also called to model Christ-like values, as we all strive to integrate faith into our everyday lives. We support and promote good sportsmanship in victory and in defeat. Student-athletes learn teamwork, leadership, persistence, patience, time-management, etc. We build character and instill virtues that will help your child become a good person.
The 2017 Crusaders Softball team received their state championship rings during a ceremony at a Scecina football game.
During the 2017-18 school year, our varsity football, basketball and baseball teams all won Sectional and Regional championships and earned the privilege of playing in the Semi-State round of the IHSAA state tournament. Our girls soccer team was ranked in the Top 20 statewide, and our wrestling team earned a runner-up finish in the City Tournament. In 2016-17, Crusaders athletic teams won four Indiana Crossroad Conference championships. The boys soccer team advanced to the Semi-State round of the IHSAA state tournament, and the Crusaders softball team was the state champion in Class 2A.
Your child has an excellent opportunity to participate in one or more sports at Scecina. Our education-based athletic programs are vibrant parts of the Scecina experience. We offer all 20 IHSAA sports. We are one of just three schools in Indianapolis that has a complete gymnastics team. Plus, we offer two club sports: boys volleyball and lacrosse. We have something for everyone! Over 70 percent of our students are on an athletic team.
If your child is interested in the summer conditioning program and/or having more information about any sport(s), please contact me. I encourage you to discover the opportunities that Scecina has to offer.
