During a record-setting fall sports season, the Crusaders won the Indiana Crossroads Conference Championships in cross country, football, and boys soccer.
Seniors Jacqueline Kennedy and Andrew Clegg helped lead the cross country team to its most successful season in recent history. Juniors Holden Martin and Henry Egan contributed to the team’s accomplishments by helping to secure team victories at the Scecina Memorial Invitational and the Beech Grove Invitational. The Crusaders are trained by long- time Scecina coach Ryan Keen.
At the Semi-State meet, Kennedy broke the school record, which she held, while Martin, and Egan set personal records.
The Crusaders football team has been dominate this year, defeating conference challengers Beech Grove, Triton Central, and Speedway. Leading the way are seniors Chad Kelley, Amaari Abdul-Halim, Anthony Andrews, and Will Ferree.
The team ended its regular season with a 7-2 record with a nail- biting 14-13 victory over the Monrovia Bulldogs to claim the ICC title. Coach Ott Hurrle and his team are now focused on defending their 2015 Sectional title.
Under new head coach Jesse Purvis, the boys soccer team defeated perennial rivals Lutheran and Park Tudor on their way to their first ever ICC conference championships
Standouts for the Crusaders include seniors Jackson Howell and Carlos Caldera, juniors Luis Montes, Abe Avila and Ben Irvin, and sophomore Johnny Tinoco. In addition to their ICC title, the Crusaders have captured the Sectional and Regional championships.
