Dr. Joe Brettnacher has accepted the position of Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.
Dr. Brettnacher has been the principal of Scecina Memorial High School since August 2017. During that time, he has advanced several initiatives at Scecina, including safety protocol, a School Improvement Plan, the state’s Pathways to Graduation, and many others. Prior to coming to Scecina, he served as Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Columbus (Ohio), where he oversaw the operations of 53 Catholic schools.
Dr. Brettnacher will assume his duties with the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend on July 1, 2019.
“I will miss dearly the students, faculty, staff, clergy, parents, alumni, and friends of Scecina,” he said. “I will keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers, and I ask that you do the same for me.”
Scecina President Joe Therber praised Dr. Brettnacher for his leadership as principal for the past two years.
“Dr. Joe Brettnacher is a true believer in student potential and success,” said President Therber. “He has developed strong and caring relationships with teachers, demonstrated significant administrative skills, and brought a Catholic worldview and values to his relationships and duties. I appreciate Dr. Brettnacher’s commitment to Scecina and wish him the very best in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.”
President Therber said the recruitment of a new principal is underway. He plans to update the Scecina Community in early June 2019.
