Explanatory Mass is for everyone
Monsignor Paul Koetter, pastor of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, explains aspects of the Catholic Mass to Scecina students on Sept. 21, 2016. Father Paul will lead a similar Explanatory Mass for parents on Oct. 26, 2016, at Holy Spirit.
By Principal John Hegarty
Father Paul Koetter presented an Explanatory Mass for our students and staff a few weeks ago. I found it very enlightening, even though I am lifelong Catholic and attend Mass at least twice a week.
There are reasons for doing things a certain way that I was not aware of. Father explained why Mass is so important to our faith and the historical significance of each part of the Mass.
There will be an Explanatory Mass at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church for parents and the community, led by Father Paul. Everyone in the Scecina community is invited.
We believe many of you would find this presentation educational, whether you are Catholic or not. The Explanatory Mass opened up great conversations with my two foreign exchange students, one a Catholic from India and the other a non-Catholic from China.
We hope to see you at the Explanatory Mass on Wednesday at Holy Spirit! Holy Spirit Catholic church is located at 7243 E. 10th Street.
