Nov. 9 Fall Play | Arsenic and Old Lace

Arsenic and Old Lace is a comedic play that centers around Mortimer Brewster, a theater critic, who recently found out that his lovely, doting aunts have taken up a strange hobby. The two sisters, Martha and Abby Brewster, have started a new charity by killing lonely old men by lacing their wine with poison. And, up to this point, they have “helped” twelve gentlemen in this fashion!

The Brewster family continues to get stranger with: a brother who believes that he is President Teddy Roosevelt; a brother, Jonathan Brewster, who recently escaped from the Prison for the Criminally Insane; and a plastic surgeon, Dr. Einstein (no, not Albert Einstein) who follows Jonathan around and changes his face. To make matters worse, the fuddling police department keeps coming in and out while Mortimer is trying to decide how best to break it to his new fiancé Elaine that he cannot marry her because his family is nuts!

Scecina Memorial High School will stage Arsenic and Old Lace on Saturday, November 9 in the Howe High School Auditorium. Admission is only $5.

We invite all members of our school community to this fun-filled evening!
