Grateful for givers and golfers

Scecina Memorial High School President Joe Therber with Delaney Rohlman, Class of 2016 and recipient of the Kenneth R. Leffler Scholarship. The Scecina Alumni Golf Classic benefits the Leffler Scholarship.

Dear Crusader community,

As the positive memories of last school year remain with us, one theme comes to mind: gratitude. We have much to be grateful for at Scecina: a diverse and gifted community of students; parents who invest time, talent, and treasure; capable and caring teachers and staff members, supportive pastors and school principals; generous alumni and friends who support our mission; the Archdiocese of Indianapolis’ commitment to provide a  Catholic education on the Eastside of Indianapolis; the message of the Gospel; the legacy of Father Thomas Scecina.

To help our ministry grow, 1,377 generous Scecina alumni and friends committed $1,262,000 in support during the past year. At the annual Scecina Alumni Golf Classic at Ironwood Golf Club on July 17, a record number of golfers and sponsors funded the Kenneth R. Leffler Scholarship for a deserving child or grandchild of a Scecina alumnus. This year’s recipient, Delaney Rohlman, was on hand to welcome and thank the golfers. These investments enable Scecina to provide need-based grants, merit scholarships, high-quality academic classes and programs, challenging co-curricular activities, spiritual growth opportunities, and capital improvements that keep our campus facilities improving every year.

The cafeteria renovation is progressing on schedule and according to budget.  I am eager for our students and staff to experience this new space in just a few short weeks. Click HERE to see the latest pictures of the renovation!

Thank you for supporting this great school as we continue to honor the legacy of Father Thomas Scecina, a remarkable Catholic priest and patriot who has inspired countless students, alumni and friends to acts both great and small that serve our Church and our world.<

God Bless,

Joe Therber
