Kevin Griffin '76 named Scecina head girls volleyball coach
Kevin Griffin is the new head coach of Scecina's girls varsity volleyball team.
Scecina Memorial High School Athletic Director Jason Kehrer
announced Friday that Kevin Griffin '76 has been named head coach of the girls varsity volleyball team. The school made the announcement
after completing a thorough application and interview process.
“Kevin Griffin has been an integral part of the Scecina volleyball program over the last 14 years," Kehrer said. "He has coached the freshman and JV teams to many successful seasons, so it is only fitting that he assume the role of varsity head coach. The Lady Crusaders volleyball program will thrive under his leadership.”
Griffin has been a coach with Scecina's volleyball program since 2001. He has been the head freshman coach, the head junior varsity coach and, most recently, the varsity assistant coach. For the past three years, he has been coach of Scecina's boys club volleyball team.
"I'm glad to have been part of the Scecina volleyball program for the last 14 years, and I'm looking forward to be in my new role as head coach," Griffin said. "I'm excited about the new girls coming in and how well the teams will do in the future."
Griffin is a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Indianapolis and retired from Raytheon in 2003. He and his wife, Maureen, have four children, three of whom graduated from Scecina: Bridget '08, Betsy '13 and Connor '15. Daughter Molly is a sophomore at Scecina.
