Twenty-nine students were inducted into the Scecina Memorial High School chapter of National Honor Society on Feb. 6.

 “We are gathered here to formally recognize those students who have attained a minimum grade point average of 3.5 while also demonstrating character, leadership and a willingness to serve others,” said Mrs. Diane Hollowell, NHS moderator and a Scecina math teacher. “These students model excellence for both our school and community.”

 Senior NHS members played prominent roles in the ceremony, with the processional led by Jacqueline Hurst and Mary O’Connor leading the gathering in the Lord’s Prayer.

 Other senior members read the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Will Ferree; Service, Nate Smith; Leadership, Jacqueline Kennedy; amd Character, Chris Duncan.

 Will Therber read the names of each new member as they came forward for their certificates, and Jacob Monday led the NHS inductees in the NHS pledge:

 I pledge to honor
The high purposes of the National Honor Society
To which I have been selected;
I will be true to the principles for which it stands;
And will maintain and encourage High standards of scholarship, service, leadership,
And character.
