Scecina alum named as 'missionary of mercy'

Father Joseph Moriarty '85

A 1985 Scecina alum, Father Joseph Moriarty, has been chosen to serve as a “missionary of mercy” for the Jubilee Year of Mercy. He was chosen by Pope Francis, who commissioned the Missionaries of Mercy on Ash Wednesday. He joins 1,070 men worldwide and only 125 in the United States! Missionaries of mercy will receive a special mandate from Pope Francis to preach and teach about God’s mercy. Father Joseph Moriarty ’85 is the vice-rector at Bishop Simon Brute’ College Seminary and chaplain at Marian University, both in Indianapolis. For more information see the February 5, 2016, issue of The Criterion, the newspaper of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
