Scecina hires Scott Miller as head boys varsity basketball coach
Scecina Memorial High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Scott W. Miller as the new head coach of the Crusaders boys varsity basketball team.
Miller, 50, has 17 years of experience in coaching high school basketball and more than 100 coaching victories. Most recently, he was the boys head varsity basketball coach at the Indiana Math and Science Academy, where he started a chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Previously, Miller was head coach of the Guerin Catholic High School girls varsity basketball team from 2010-2016 and Guerin’s freshman boys basketball coach from 2007-2010.
“Our basketball program has been headed in the right direction, and we wanted someone who would build upon our strong foundation,” said Scecina Athletic Director Jason Kehrer. “Scott has coaching experience in a Catholic school and extensive basketball knowledge. We’re excited to have him continue the Crusader basketball tradition.”
Miller is the owner and president of Bowman Construction. He also has served as president and CEO of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce and president and CEO of Develop Indy, an economic development organization of the City of Indianapolis and Marion County.
“Scecina Memorial High School has a wonderful reputation as a prestigious school and I look forward to being a part of the coaching staff,” said Coach Miller. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with its young basketball talent and create a program that makes the Scecina community proud.”
At Scecina, Miller replaces Rob New, who compiled a 96-57 record over six seasons as head coach. Last season the Class 2A Scecina Crusaders boys basketball team won the IHSAA Regional championship and earned their first appearance in a Semi-State game.
