Scecina Names New Varsity Girls Basketball Coach
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (July 17, 2012) – Scecina Memorial High School is proud to welcome Evan Beauchamp as its new Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach.
Prior to coming to Scecina, Coach Beauchamp was the Varsity Assistant at Lawrence North High School for two years, and prior to that, he was the Head Coach at Tipton and Sheridan High Schools. During his second year at Sheridan, Beauchamp’s team won their first Sectional game ever in the school’s history. At that time, it had been 31 years since the beginning of girls’ sectionals, and Sheridan had never won even one game in the tournament. Not only did they win their first game, they won the next game as well and eventually made it to the championship game, where they lost to North Montgomery. It was quite an accomplishment for a group of girls. Beauchamp also coached at Hamilton Southeastern and Lawrence Central High Schools. He currently resides in Fishers with his wife, Haley, and their two sons, Cooper and Shane. His daughter, Jordan, is also in Fishers preparing for Veterinary School at Purdue.
“I am very excited about coaching at Scecina,” says Coach Beauchamp. “I am looking forward to continuing the success the girls have experienced over the past few years, and taking them to even greater heights."
A Search Committee of community leaders screened, interviewed, and recommended finalist candidates to the school Principal and President. Members of the Search Committee are Margaret Zeh, Scecina Memorial teacher and coach; Ott Hurrle, Scecina Memorial teacher and coach; Mike Henderson, retired teacher and coach of Cardinal Ritter High School and Marian University; Jim McNulty, former Scecina Girls Varsity Basketball coach; and Jason Kehrer, Scecina Memorial Athletic Director.
