Scholar Athlete: Shuyao Li '18
Sophomore Shuyao Li has traveled more than 7,000 miles from China to be educated and involved at Scecina Memorial High School. She is challenging herself with diverse honors classes and also in activities such as athletics and the robotics club.

Sophomore Shuyao Li has traveled over 7,000 miles to experience all of the academic, co-curricular, and faith-building opportunities available at Scecina. She is challenging herself with diverse honors classes such as biology, geometry, and Spanish. She is involved in student life, participating in athletics and the robotics club.
With the help of her host sisters, Bailey ’16 and Kelsy ’18 Hope, Shuyao has created a full and active life at Scecina. She is a three-sport athlete, participating in women’s soccer, swimming, and tennis. “At Scecina I have been able to join many sports teams” Shuyao says. “We work really well together.”
Despite her hectic schedule, Shuyao has maintained a 3.88 grade point average during her first year as a Crusader. She will be honored with the Scecina Scholar Athlete Award on Sunday, May 22.
Shuyao is the daughter of Lei Zhao, a member of the Family Planning Committee of China, and Yuesong Li, a researcher for the Traffic Management Committee. They reside in Chengdu, Suchuan, China.
