Scecina sophomore Kellianne Mendez represented the Crusaders in the Indiana Elite North vs. South women’s basketball game on March 4. This honor typically is reserved for high school juniors and seniors.

“Kellianne is remarkable because she can play virtually any position on the floor,” said varsity coach Jim McNulty, “but her determination to compete makes her special”.

Kellianne participated in the junior division at the game. In 20 minutes of play, she posted 4 points, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 rebound, and 2 deflections.

“Kellianne Mendez is the perfect example of a player whose value to her team goes far beyond the numbers on a stat sheet,” said Coach McNulty. “Because she is a fearless competitor, and she is truly not afraid of anyone, she creates an aura of confidence and success for her teammates”.

At the Scecina's Winter Sports Award program, Coach McNulty presented with the trophy for 2016-17 Crusader Spirit Award.

Kellianne is the daughter of Mike and Rachel Mendez. She attended Holy Cross Central School. Kellianne also runs cross country and plays softball for the Crusaders.
