• Father Chris Wadelton honored for service to Catholic schools

    Father Chris Wadelton, priest at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and a member of Scecina Memorial High School’s Board of Directors, was honored by the National Catholic Educational Association for his commitment and service to Catholic schools.

    Father Chris received the NCEA’s “Lead. Learn. Proclaim” Award on April 3 at the NCEA’s annual convention and expo in Cincinnati. The award recognizes “excellence and distinguished service in Catholic school education.”

  • Scecina students build up faith by serving at school liturgy

     “But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.” –Matthew 20:26 

    The students involved in ministries at Scecina’s weekly Masses embody the spirit of this quote from Matthew. These students give of their time to be  lectors, servers, cantors, choir members and Eucharistic ministers and to share their faith with the Scecina community. Their servant leadership through weekly Mass helps them to not only develop and strengthen their relationships with God, but also encourages their peers to do the same.

  • Family donates chalice to Scecina

    The family of a former archdiocesan priest presented the priceless gift of his chalice to Scecina Memorial High School.

    Scecina science teacher Marianne (Stahl) Echelbarger and her brother Tom Stahl ‘74 were present to gift Scecina with the chalice of their late uncle, Father John Stahl. The presentation was made after Mass on March 29 to current Scecina chaplain, Father Aaron Jenkins. The chalice is silver with the Gospel writers - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John - carved around the stem and a set of apparent rhinestones above them.
