• Family donates chalice to Scecina

    The family of a former archdiocesan priest presented the priceless gift of his chalice to Scecina Memorial High School.

    Scecina science teacher Marianne (Stahl) Echelbarger and her brother Tom Stahl ‘74 were present to gift Scecina with the chalice of their late uncle, Father John Stahl. The presentation was made after Mass on March 29 to current Scecina chaplain, Father Aaron Jenkins. The chalice is silver with the Gospel writers - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John - carved around the stem and a set of apparent rhinestones above them.

  • Indiana legislature recognizes Father Tom's hall of fame honor

    On November 4, 2016, Father Thomas Scecina was inducted into the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame. It was a wonderful event. Father Thomas Scecina was nominated by Tom Blandford ’65, a former U.S. Army Ranger, who has been very active member of Scecina's Veterans Committee.

  • Scecina graduate's film on Sisters draws crowd back to school

    “So moving and so beautiful!” is how one movie reviewer described “A Sign of The Cross” after its Scecina premiere on January 29.

     More than 130 alumni, parents and friends attended the showing of “A Sign of the Cross,” a documentary by Scecina alumnus Jeannine “Andy” (Andersen) Murphy ’60 on a snowy afternoon. Her documentary, which has been aired on the Indianapolis PBS affiliate, WFYI, tells the story of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg. Many current sisters drove up from Oldenburg for the Scecina event.

    President Joe Therber also welcomed the Sisters, remarking on their long history with Scecina. He also introduced Andy and local TV news anchor Debby Knox, the film’s narrator.
