  • Scecina's robot is ready to compete

    Freshman Osighe Akpeokhai (left) is a member of Scecina’s Robotics Club, which participated in its first competition of the year on December 16. The club’s challenge, at a VEX Robotics Competition at Greenfield-Central Central High School, was a learning experience, especially for the younger students. They’re already looking forward to their next competition in the spring, said club moderator Andy Smith.

  • Students learn culinary arts in Scecina's Baking Club

    The Scecina Baking Club is happy to share the fruits of its labors. In the school’s commercial kitchen, they’ve baked dozens upon dozens of cookies and other treats for Scecina events. 

    The Baking Club is another example of a Scecina club started at a student’s request. Jean Donlan, assistant to Scecina President Joe Therber, and parent and caterer Laura Johnston fired up the Baking Club in August 2014. Aaron Okerson, then a sophomore, worked part-time at Hart Bakery on East 10th Street. He wanted to share his love of baking with other students. ...Read More

  • A bit of Spain at Scecina

    There were more than a few tears as 15 Spanish students said goodbye to Scecina one recent morning.

    The students hailed from Andalusia in the southern Spain, several came from the capital city of Seville and others live in smaller towns. They came as part of the Short-Term Program of Foreign Links Around the Globe (FLAG), an international student exchange program.
