Student Spotlight: Athan Christopher
Sophomore Athan Christopher is taking plenty of science classes as he plans to attend either Purdue University or Rose Hulman Institute of Technology to study electrical engineering.
Each week the Scecina Student Spotlight introduces the Crusader Community to a current Scecina student.

Sophomore Athan Christopher believes that he has found his home here at Scecina Memorial High School.
“The Crusaders are a big community, and that’s what I like about it,” he said.
Community is important to Athan, who believes that everyone deserves to feel as if they belong. When asked about his passions, and what he would go on a crusade for, Athan said, “Equality; fair treatment for everyone, everywhere.”
In the classroom, Athan excels in science. He is enrolled in AP biology, taking advantage of Scecina’s extensive offering of science classes as he prepares to attend either Purdue University or Rose Hulman Institute of Technology to study electrical engineering.
Athan’s dedication to his studies has earned him a 4.0 GPA, recognition as a Scholar Athlete (he participates in soccer and wrestling), and the President’s Academic Excellence Award during the 2014-15 school year.
The son of Shawn and Denise Christopher, who are both employed in the healthcare field, Athan is the oldest of four children. The family belongs to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Athan is easily recognizable on the Scecina campus, because he never goes anywhere without his bucket hat!
