Student Spotlight: Dominic Petrone '17


Junior Dominic Petrone hopes to attend Purdue University. Dominic represents his classmates as Student Council representative. He assists with events such as the canned food drive, Crazy Fridays to benefit local charities, Homecoming events, and Red and Gold spirit week.

Each week the Scecina Student Spotlight introduces the Crusader Community to a current Scecina student who has been a recipient of the President's Academic Excellence Award.

Junior Dominic Petrone has spent his last three years at Scecina Memorial High School developing the core values all Crusaders hold dear. Dominic strives for excellence in the class room by maintaining a 3.96 grade point average while enrolling in challenging advanced placement courses.

He practices stewardship by serving as a Scecina Student Ambassador, representing the school at on- and off-campus events throughout the school year.

Acting as a servant leader, Dominic represents his classmates as a Student Council representative. He assists with events such as the canned food drive, Crazy Fridays to benefit local charities, Homecoming events, and Red and Gold spirit week.

Dominic has developed the value of vocation by dedicating himself to the cross country program. Passionate about running, he trains year round to represent the Crusaders. Challenged by a late growth spurt, Dominic has not allowed that huddle to slow him down. He has participated in the Mini Marathon, a premier running event held each May in conjunction with the Indy 500.

Dominic is the son of Nick and Amy Petrone. His father works as an outreach consultant. He also is a member of Scecina’s Board of Directors and chairs the school’s Parent Ambassador Team. Amy is a project manager for a software company. Dominic, who plans to attend Purdue University, has two sisters, Audrey ’15 and Sophia ’20.
