Student Spotlight: Maggie Mayer '16
Senior Maggie Mayer says her passion is playing with the Crusader volleyball team, and she also excels in the classroom and is a there-time President's Academic Excellence Award recipient.
Each week the Scecina Student Spotlight introduces the Crusader Community to a current Scecina student.

Scecina senior Maggie Mayer is something of a Crusader legacy. Her parents, Rob and Theresa (Ritzi) Mayer, graduated from Scecina in 1984. Her uncle, Michael Mayer Sr. '86, and her aunt, Michele (Mayer) Dunn '91, are also alums. And, like her family before her, she is making the most of her time at Scecina Memorial High School.
Maggie has embraced the Scecina philosophy of educating the whole person – mind, body and spirit. She excels in the classroom as a three-time President’s Award for Academic Excellence honoree and a member of the National Honor Society.
She is a four-year member of the Crusaders volleyball program (which she says is her passion!), and Maggie is contributing to the Crusader Community through service as the treasurer of the Key Club and a Student Council representative.
Maggie says that balancing her school work and activities is a challenge, but she knows the work is worth it. The skills she is developing at Scecina, including leadership, time management and dedication, will benefit her as she prepares for the next step in life.
Maggie is planning to attend college to study finance or political science, but she is undecided on which university.
