Standing at just under five feet tall, Scecina junior Mary O’Connor says her biggest challenge so far has been "my height.” But Mary has not let her small stature keep her from accomplishing big things as a Crusader.

Mary excels academically, maintaining a 4.25 grade point average. She is currently ranked third in her class. On April 25, Mary received her third consecutive President’s Award for Academic Excellence.

Passionate about everything she does, Mary thrives in many of the diverse co-curricular activities offered at Scecina. She is a three-season varsity athlete, participating in volleyball, gymnastics, and track and field. She also represents the Crusaders as a Student Ambassador and a member of the reigning ICC Championship Academic Super Bowl Team.

“Scecina has offered me many opportunities through clubs and sports to be involved at school, and outside of school” Mary says. “This has made me much more outgoing.”

As the spring semester comes to a close, Mary is excited for her senior year at Scecina. She has been elected as the 2016-17 Key Club President. Mary also wants to crusade against global warming.

Mary is the daughter of Michael and Anne O’Connor. Michael works for Eli Lilly as the Director of State Government Affairs. Anne is a lawyer, and the coach of the Crusader Woman’s Gymnastic Team. Younger sister Eileen, an 8th grader at Holy Spirit, will attend Scecina in the fall.
