Senior Py Khonwai
Each week we will introduce some of our student-athletes whose commitment to their education and athletic accomplishments have earned them the Scecina Scholar Athlete Award for the 2015-16 school year.

Senior Py Khonwai has dedicated his time at Scecina to developing in mind, body, and spirit. He has excelled in the classroom, earning high honor roll status each semester.
Py also has found success in the athletic arena. “At Scecina I had the opportunity to play on a football team that went to the State Championships,” he says. Py also participates in the boys volleyball program. The Crusaders are ranked No. 7 in the state.
In the spirit of vocation, Py has cultivated and shared his beautiful singing voice with the Crusader Community during the Annual Sacred Music Concerts and in this year’s spring musical,"Disney’s Tarzan."
As his final year comes to a close, Py reflects on his days at Scecina. He acknowledges his biggest challenge during high school is the loss of his grandmother. The one secret he has kept from his classmates? “I used to be a Boy Scout!”
With graduation just a few weeks away, he is looking ahead to the next step on his educational journey. He plans to attend Indiana University -Purdue University at Indianapolis to study physical therapy. Py also plans to use the education and values learned at Scecina to crusade against abortion.
Py is the son of Peggy Carrico, a global clinical study leader for Eli Lilly and Co., and Wasan Khonwai, who works for Federal Express. His brother Joe is an eighth-grader at St. Michael.
