The Value of Scecina Athletics
The general public may look upon high school athletics and think of them as good, positive extra-curricular activities. Scecina Athletics are much more important in the lives of our students than just extra-curricular activities. Our student-athletes, experience firsthand that there is a right way to do things and a wrong way.
Demands and high expectations placed on Crusaders through athletics are much greater and much more rewarding than the already-high requirements of all Scecina students. Scecina athletes are shown on a daily basis that the importance of competitiveness, self-discipline, strong work ethic, and the importance of fair play, will be recalled and used throughout their lives. Our athletes learn to fight through adversity, to get back up after being knocked down, and to have the value of being a positive teammate no matter the situation.
As adults, we know that life is full of ups and downs, high points and low points, successes and failures. There is no doubt that Scecina athletes learn to handle both sides of these extremes through their athletic participation. Additionally, student athletics benefit from the memories created through the efforts of our Crusader sports. These student athletics experience bonding moments that influence them for a lifetime.
We encourage you to visit Scecina during the summer months of June and July. There you will find more than 100 of our students working out in order to prepare for their upcoming seasons in various sports. This dedication to their sport, teammates, coaches, and school cannot be taught in just any extra-curricular activity, and this is exactly why Scecina Athletics are so special and necessary.
