“Making a contribution from the IRA reduces my taxable income, dollar for every dollar given. It is a great way to give.”
— George Walker, Scecina Class of 1966, and parent of three Scecina graduates
A Special Opportunity for Donors 70½ and Older
If you are 70½ or older, you have a special opportunity to make a powerful gift to Scecina Memorial High School—tax-free—through an IRA charitable rollover, also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
This giving option allows you to support Catholic education while enjoying significant tax benefits.
- Eligibility: You must be at least 70½ years old and have a Traditional, Rollover, or Inherited IRA.
- Direct Transfer: Your gift must go directly from your IRA custodian to Scecina Memorial High School. (Funds cannot pass through your personal account.)
- Tax-Free Giving: You pay no income tax on the amount donated. Every dollar goes to support our mission.
- RMD Advantage: If you’re 73 or older, your QCD can count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year.
Why Consider an IRA Gift?
- Reduce your taxable income, even if you don’t itemize.
- Satisfy all or part of your RMD with a charitable contribution.
- Support Scecina’s students and mission in a meaningful way.
- Make a lasting impact without affecting your cash flow.
