Patricia (O'Connor) Bates '76
Vice Chair
After graduating from Purdue University in 1980 with a bachelor of science in Organizational Leadership, she began her career was quality control manager at Inland Container Corp.
In 1982 Patsy began a long career in the financial services industry. She was employed by EF Hutton and then joined Prudential Securities, which was acquired by Wachovia Securities and eventually merged with Wells Fargo Advisors. She had several roles with these organizations, including operations manager and branch manager of both the Evansville and Louisville offices. She spent her last 17 years as executive vice president, Mid America Regional president.
Patsy is happily retired as of September 2018
She and her husband, Mike, live in the Herron Morton neighborhood in Indianapolis. They have two grown daughters, Colleen and Shelby.
Patsy volunteers with the Indiana Landmarks. She has been a Tiffany Circle member of the Red Cross for the past 11 years.
Since her retirement she has successfully completed the goal of visiting all 50 states and 26 National Parks. She is an avid reader and is a loyal fan of the Colts, Pacers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Purdue Boilermakers. Patsy likes to exercise with daily walks or runs.
Lara Beck

Lara Beck has spent nearly 20 years working in public and media relations, strategic communications and reputation management. She has extensive experience working for elected officials at the state and local levels. Lara started Beck Communications in 2006 and provides strategic communications services to start-up and mid-sized companies, elected officials, municipalities, non-profits, and advocacy-related organizations.
Lara is a graduate of Marian University with a bachelor of arts degree in history and Spanish. She and her husband, Tim Henderson, live in Irvington and are parishioners at Our Lady of Lourdes. Their son, Taggart, attends Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. She previously served on and chaired the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School commission.
Dr. Sheila (Barton) Bosron '60
Sheila Barton Bosron, DDS, is a graduate of Little Flower Catholic School (1956) and Scecina (1960). She is a 1984 graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry and practiced dentistry in private practice in Broad Ripple until retirement in 2008. She also has been an elementary school teacher in Kalamazoo, Mich., and Nagoya International School in Japan.
Sheila is married to William F. Bosron, a retired professor of biochemistry at Indiana University School of Medicine. They are the sponsors of the Edward and Patricia McCracken Scholarship at Scecina. They are members of St. Monica's (Marquette) Catholic Church.

Tom Branson '01
Tom Branson is a marketing professional with early career experience in education. He currently leads digital marketing at Brand Lift, an Indianapolis-based marketing agency serving local, regional, and international businesses. Client industries include association, professional service, industrial, science, technology, and automated manufacturing. An ’01 alum of Scecina, he attended Purdue University, graduating with a degree in Anthropology and Spanish.
Tom began coaching high school football at Lafayette Central Catholic in 2002. After moving back to Indianapolis, he taught Spanish at three East Deanery grade schools and Scecina, while continuing to coach football and track and field for Scecina.
From 2008–2014, he worked in institutional advancement at Scecina with a focus on marketing, communications, fundraising, and development. He then began his marketing career in earnest with ExactHire, a human resources technology company with clients across the United States.
After more than a decade in tech marketing, Tom joined Brand Lift in 2025, where he develops multi-channel digital strategies that reinforce client brand and positioning and generate awareness among targeted audiences to drive business growth.
In his free time, Tom enjoys volunteering through the CYO at Holy Spirit School and celebrating his Irish heritage through the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Tom and his wife, Rose, are members of Holy Spirit Parish. Their daughter, Evelyn, attends Holy Spirit School, and their son, Liam, is a member of Scecina’s class of 2030.
Kate (Carrico) Broshears ’06
Kate Broshears serves as Chief Operating Officer for Golden Mean Advisors, a consulting firm that helps employers, government, education providers, and nonprofits pursue a good society. Golden Mean provides expertise and consulting services in a variety of areas and disciplines, including workforce development, economic development, education, philanthropy, strategic planning, project management, and management and leadership.
Most recently, Broshears spent nearly nine years at Ascend Indiana, the talent and workforce development initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership. After joining Ascend in May 2016 as a founding team member, she held several leadership roles within the organization, most recently as Senior Vice President of Operations. In that role, she worked across teams while leading Ascend’s development and fundraising eff orts, supporting the Board of Directors and CEO, leading research activities, and coordinating organizational strategic planning and operations.
Previously, Broshears worked at the National Collegiate Athletic Association in Division III governance. She began her career at a software start-up through Orr Fellowship, a two-year program that pairs college graduates with entrepreneurial companies in Indianapolis and provides ongoing professional development. Broshears serves on the boards of the Catholic Youth Organization and Scecina Memorial High School, with prior service on the IndyHub and Orr Fellowship boards. She has been honored as a member of the Indianapolis Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 and is a member of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series Class XLVIII.
Broshears received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from DePauw University, where she was a volleyball student-athlete, and holds master’s degrees in business administration and sports administration from Ohio University. Outside of work, she enjoys adventures with her husband Neil and their two young boys and is usually training for her next marathon.
Dan Bruno, Colonel, U.S. Army, ret. '77
Dan Bruno, a 1977 graduate of Scecina, is an accomplished senior executive with decades of success spanning the military, community management, IT, health care, and higher education.
Dan has held leadership positions with Duke Health and the U.S. Army. He currently is chief operating office for Duke Health Information Technology. He is responsible for leading daily information technology operations across Duke Health. Dan’s organization provides technology and services to 30,000 Duke Health staff, including clinicians, faculty, and researchers.
Dan served a career in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Colonel and serving as the Garrison Commander at West Point. While leading daily operations, he collaborated with congressional, community, military, andacademic leaders and provided community support programs and facilities, helping achieve No. 1 in the Forbes ranking of colleges in 2009. Prior to West Point, Dan served in command and staff positions, during war and peace, in the Pentagon, Human Resources Command, 1st Armored Division, 101st Airborne Division, VII Armored Corps, and 9th Infantry Division. Among his military awards are the Distinguished Service Medal and the Bronze Star.
Dan attained his M.S. in Information Resources Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology and his BBA in Business Management from the University of Notre Dame. Dan is a native of Indianapolis, one of four Scecina graduates in his family, and happily married to his wife, Kitty. They have two daughters and three grandchildren, all living in the Raleigh/Durham, N.C., area.
Brandon Folck ’96
Brandon Folck is an accomplished executive with over 25 years of leadership experience in human resources, safety, compliance, and workforce optimization. A 1996 graduate of Scecina Memorial High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University (’00), a Master of Science from Indiana State University (’11), and an HR Graduate Certificate from Purdue Global (’23). He also holds numerous professional certifications in human resources.
Brandon has a proven track record of aligning HR and compliance strategies with business objectives, fostering inclusive workplace cultures, and driving measurable improvements in employee engagement and regulatory compliance. His expertise spans multiple industries, including transportation and logistics, manufacturing, retail, and insurance.
Brandon and his wife, Yan Folck, own and operate Blingle! Premier Lighting. They are active members of St. Pius X Parish. They have a daughter attending St. Vincent DePaul University and a son at Bishop Chatard High School.
Dr. Sheila (McNelis) Gamache '79
Board Chair
Dr. Sheila (McNelis) Gamache, M.D. FACC, is a senior cardiologist at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital and has practiced medicine in Indianapolis for 35 years. An Our Lady of Lourdes and 1979 Scecina graduate, Dr. Gamache studied microbiology and genetics at Purdue University before completing her MD at Indiana University.
Sheila and her husband, Bob Bates, served on the Scecina Capital Campaign’s executive committee. They also sponsor the Immaculata Scholarship, an annual need- and merit-based gift for an Our Lady of Lourdes student to attend Scecina without hardship. Dr. Gamache volunteers for Catholic schools and parishes across Indianapolis, including serving as team physician for Bishop Chatard football since 2007.
An Irvington native, Sheila is a founding sponsor of the Old Timers Kickball Eastside Classic. She has three children, all Catholic education graduates, who also live in Indianapolis. She and Bob are parishioners at Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Cory McNulty '98
Cory McNulty is a construction industry professional with over 20 years of experience helping projects and organizations run efficiently and deliver strong results. He currently serves as President of General Piping Inc., an Indianapolis-based mechanical contracting company, where he focuses on delivering high-quality projects, improving processes, and ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Over the course of his career, Cory has built a reputation for practical leadership, strong execution, and a commitment to doing things the right way. He brings particular strength in operations, project management, and team development, along with a steady, solutions-oriented approach.
Cory previously served on and chaired the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School Commission, where he supported school leadership and long-term planning efforts.
A graduate of Holy Spirit Catholic School, Scecina Memorial High School, and Purdue University, Cory remains actively involved in his community. He and his wife, Carissa, are the parents of three children—Morgan ’22, Nolan ’25, and Shea ’27—who all attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. The McNulty family lives in Carmel, Indiana, and are parishioners at Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
George Newhart Jr. '60
Immediate Past Board Chair
George Newhart, a 1960 graduate of Scecina Memorial High School, became Chairman of the Scecina Board of Directors, on July 1, 2016. He received his bachelor of science in accounting and an MBA from Butler University. George is a certified public accountant with more than 40 years of experience in accounting, finance, investor relations and administration, most recently serving as vice president and corporate controller with CTS Corporation.
He has served on the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors for several years and has generously supported Scecina through gifts of time, talent and treasure.
Anne O’Connor
Anne O’Connor is an attorney who has worked in the public sector in both state and local government throughout her career. She graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and received her law degree from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.
Anne served on the Our Faith, Our Journey, Our Time Capital Campaign Executive Committee. Anne has also volunteered in several capacities, including as a coach for the Scecina gymnastics team for the program’s first two years and as a parent ambassador. In addition, she is a Scecina Women’s Circle member.
Anne and her husband, Michael, are members of Holy Spirit Church and are the parents of two daughters, Mary ’17, and Eileen ’20. Both daughters are also graduates of Holy Spirit Catholic School.
Joe Therber
President
Joe is the president of Scecina Memorial High School. Previously, he was executive director of Stewardship and Development for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. As president of Scecina, Joe is the chief administrative officer of the school. His responsibilities include strategic planning; fostering Catholic identity; growing the Mission Advancement program through marketing, alumni relations, enrollment management, and development; fostering deanery, community, and archdiocesan relationships; and overseeing business, financial, and facility affairs. Joe holds a bachelor of arts degree and a master of science in Administration degree from the University of Notre Dame. He and his wife, Angie, have five children, and they are very active in Catholic and civic projects in their community.
Leon Waninger
Treasurer
Leon Waninger is the controller for Steel Dynamics, Inc., Engineered Bar Products Division in Pittsboro, Ind. Steel Dynamics is one of the United States’ largest and most diversified domestic steel producers and metals recyclers. Leon is a graduate of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.
During more than 20 years as a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes, Leon has served as chair of the Finance Committee, School Commission, Parish Council, and Engagement Committee. As an East Side Catholic Cohort member, Leon worked to complete the Connected in the Spirit process with the archdiocese. He is an active member of the Irvington Development Organization. He and his wife, Carol Divish, live in Irvington and have three children. Their son, Teddy, will graduate from Scecina in 2023.
Paul Heazeltine '76
Paul Heazeltine is a 1976 graduate of Scecina, where he was a successful student and student-athlete, and then graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance before assuming leadership roles in the retail grocery business with Korger.
His responsibilities with Kroger included store and district management, strategic planning, talent development, and developing and meeting financial goals.
Paul is now retired from Kroger after a 44–year career.
Paul and his wife Ivy live in Franklin Township in Marion County and are members of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church. They have two grown daughters who live in Indianapolis and seven grandchildren.
Paul has been a board member of KEMBA Credit Union since 1996. He has volunteered at the food pantry for Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church and is currently assisting in the parish Capital Campaign.
Paul enjoys golfing, bicycle riding and attending Pacers and Colts games, along with being a spectator at a variety of auto racing venues.
