Important Scecina News: August Dates, Dress Code & Staff Updates

Dear Crusader families,

July greetings! The summer is flying by, and those of us at Scecina have been busy preparing for a fabulous new school year! We’re excited to have you back, meet and welcome our newest Scecina students, and greet new staff members who will join us this year. I’d like to share a few details about three topics as we prepare for the new school year: dress code, the first day of school, and introductions of new teachers. 

Dress Code 

We have one significant change in our dress code for the upcoming school year — the only color pants or shorts that can be worn will be khaki. Navy and black are no longer allowable colors for pants or shorts at Scecina. Khaki pants may be purchased from any venue you’d like.

Other parts of the dress code remain the same:  

  • Only Scecina polos or sweatshirts (purchased from the Spirit Shop) may be worn Monday through Thursday.

  • Scecina T-shirts may be worn for Spirit Day on Friday.

  • Shoes must have fronts and backs, boys must be clean-shaven, and hair should be neat and clean.

Orientations and First Day of School 

All students are required to attend orientation sessions on Tuesday, August 5. This is not a full day, and students should only attend during their class session.

  • Seniors: 8–9:30 a.m.
  • Juniors: 9–10:30 a.m.
  • Sophomores: 10–11:30 a.m.
  • Freshmen and new students: 11 a.m.–3:45 p.m.

Please be prompt, as there is much to accomplish during the time at school. Students may dress in spirit wear for August 5.

Wednesday, August 6 will be our first full day of classes and students should be in regular uniform. 

New Teachers 

As we welcome many new students to our Scecina family, we also welcome several new teachers. Please greet:

  • Nicole Bodnar (Business): Mrs. Bodnar has a Bachelor of Science in marketing and organizational behavior from LaSalle University.
  • Janine Duldulao (Chemistry): Mrs. Duldulao has a Bachelor of Secondary Education in chemistry and a Master of Arts in educational management from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
  • Christopher Helle (Theology): Mr. Helle has a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and a Master of Arts in theology, both from Mount St. Mary’s University, and a graduate certificate from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome.
  • Aidan Kaczanowski (Computer Science): Mr. Kaczanowski has a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and a Bachelor of Science in computer science, both from Purdue University.
  • Patrick Ralston (Social Studies): Mr. Ralston joins our staff with a Bachelor of Arts in social studies education and a minor in history and military science and leadership from Purdue.
  • Hidalina Roman (ENL): Ms. Roman has a bachelor’s degree from Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago in the Dominican Republic and several ENL certifications.
  • Brianna Tilley (Physics): Ms. Tilley has a double major in sociology and anthropology and a minor in physics from Centre College in Kentucky.

Queridas familias Crusaders,

¡Saludos de julio! ¡El verano está volando y aquellos de nosotros en Scecina hemos estado ocupados preparándonos para un fabuloso nuevo año escolar! Estamos emocionados de tenerte de regreso, conocer y dar la bienvenida a nuestros nuevos estudiantes Crusaders, así como a los nuevos miembros del personal que se unirán a nosotros este año. Me gustaría compartir algunos detalles sobre tres temas mientras nos preparamos para el nuevo año escolar: el código de vestimenta, el primer día de clases y las presentaciones de los nuevos maestros.

Código de Vestimenta 

Tenemos un cambio significativo en nuestro código de vestimenta para el próximo año escolar: el único color de pantalones o shorts que se puede usar será caqui. El azul marino y el negro ya no son colores permitidos para pantalones o shorts en Scecina. Los pantalones caqui se pueden comprar en cualquier lugar que desees.

Otras partes del código de vestimenta siguen siendo las mismas:  

  • Solo los polos o sudaderas de Scecina (comprados en Spirit Shop) se pueden usar de lunes a jueves.

  • Las camisetas de Scecina se pueden usar para el Día del Espíritu el viernes.

  • Los zapatos deben tener la parte delantera y trasera, los niños deben estar bien afeitados y el cabello debe estar ordenado y limpio.

Orientación y Primer Día de Clases 

 Todos los estudiantes deben asistir a las sesiones de orientación el martes 5 de agosto. Este no es un día completo y los estudiantes solo deben asistir durante su sesión de clase.

  • Seniors (12): 8–9:30 a.m.
  • Juniors (11): 9–10:30 a.m.
  • Sophmores (10): 10–11:30 a.m.
  • Freshmen y Estudiantes Nuevos: 11 a.m.–3:45 p.m.

Por favor, sean puntuales, ya que hay mucho que lograr durante el tiempo que estaran aqui. Los estudiantes pueden vestirse con ropa como si fuera un Spirit Friday para el 5 de agosto.

El miércoles 6 de agosto será nuestro primer día completo de clases y estudio.  y los estudiantes deben estar en uniforme regular. 

Maestros Nuevos 

A medida que damos la bienvenida a muchos estudiantes nuevos a nuestra familia Scecina, también damos la bienvenida a varios maestros nuevos. Por favor, salude:
