Celebrating the Class of 2025 and a Year of Achievement

May 29, 2025

Dear Scecina Friends,

As we celebrate the culmination of another successful school year, we are proud to recognize the 89 outstanding graduates of the Class of 2025. Their achievements, resilience, and bright futures are a testament to their hard work and the support of the Scecina community. Collectively, these graduates have earned more than $5.1 million in scholarships and have been accepted into 24 prestigious colleges and universities. Their post-graduation paths reflect a wide range of opportunities, including attending colleges across the country, entering military service, starting apprenticeships and careers, and, in some cases, returning to their home countries. This class also represents the 69th graduating class in Scecina’s proud history.

To conclude the 2024–25 academic year, we hosted several events to celebrate student accomplishments. These events recognized both the senior class and our underclassmen, many of whom were awarded scholarships for their academic excellence and character. We are deeply grateful to the generous donors who make these scholarships possible and who invest in the promise of our students.

The month of May culminated in the annual Commencement Week, when we celebrated Senior Awards Day, Baccalaureate Mass, and Commencement.  These gatherings were inspiring moments to affirm and celebrate the Class of 2025 and their loved ones for their many academic, spiritual, and extra-curricular successes and contributions to our Scecina Community and beyond.

At our annual Scholar Athlete Awards ceremony in early May, we were honored to welcome alumnus Donald Winston, Class of 1996, as our featured speaker. Donald, a legendary student-athlete, devoted husband and father, and accomplished corporate executive, shared how faith, academics, and perseverance helped him overcome challenges in his youth. This year, 150 Scecina student-athletes maintained grade point averages of 3.0 or higher while participating in interscholastic sports. Their performance is a strong reflection of their discipline and commitment.

We held the annual President’s Academic Excellence Awards event recently, as well. This yearly highlight gathering honors our freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have the highest grade point averages, almost all of whom have earned grades above the 4.0 mark.  During this evening, we read reflections from mentors whom the seniors have chosen to accompany them. These heartfelt reflections tell stories about the seniors’ life journeys, ups and downs, special relationships, and formative moments along the way.

All of these milestones are made possible through the grace of the Holy Spirit and the generosity of you who support Scecina through your time, talent, treasure, and prayer. Thank you for walking alongside our students, educators, and leaders throughout another impactful year at Scecina Memorial High School!

Go Crusaders!

Sincerely,
