Crusader Cafe

Lunch price is $3.75

Breakfast price is $2.50

Scecina has a full-service cafeteria serving breakfast and lunch. Scecina participates in the National School Lunch Program. Parents must apply each year to become eligible for free or reduced lunch (scroll down for information on applying). All meals are prepared in our kitchen by the awesome Scecina cafeteria staff. Breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. to 7:55 a.m. on school days.

Scecina uses Mealtime, an automated cafeteria system, to manage meal purchasing. This gives families the convenience of maintaining student account balances by depositing money into student accounts at any time. Students who participate in the National School Lunch Program can be assured that their privacy will be maintained.

Please note there is not an option to re-assign an existing Mealtime account to a new school. All incoming freshmen and transfer students will have a new student account to use with Scecina.

Students will receive a PIN linked to their account. When purchasing a meal, students will provide the PIN and the amount of the purchase will be deducted from their MealTime account. Students should have money in their accounts to purchase lunch, breakfast, and ala carte items. Students providing a cash or check payment at the register will not be given change. Any amount paid in excess of the charge will be credited to the student’s account.

Students participating in the National School Lunch Program who select an eligible lunch or breakfast will not be charged (free) or will only be charged the reduced amount ($0.30 breakfast / $0.40 lunch for reduced) for that meal. However, all students who purchase a second entrée or any a la carte items (bottled water, chips, etc.) will be charged accordingly and will require funds in their accounts.

Mealtime has an online portal for parents to conveniently deposit funds into their student’s account using a credit or debit card and to review activity and balances. Account balances also can be established by sending a check made payable to Scecina Memorial High School. Checks should be dropped in the mailbox on the kitchen door or turned in at the school office. If the check is received by 9 am, the funds will be posted to the student’s account by lunchtime.

Cafeteria Finger Scanner Permission

To provide a faster, more convenient lunch experience, Scecina Memorial High School offers a finger scanner system for student meal purchases. Instead of remembering a six-digit PIN, students can register to use the finger scanner to securely access their cafeteria meal accounts. The system provides a secure, efficient way for students to access their accounts and helps keep lunch lines moving. This is similar to the technology used to unlock a cell phone. Please note that we do not store, nor can we re-create, the actual fingerprint. Even if the fingerprint is registered, use of the PIN keypad is always available as it is for those who do not wish to participate. Parents and guardians who would like their student to participate must complete the permission form by clicking the link below.

Understanding School Meals: Offer vs. Serve

Scecina participates in the USDA’s Offer vs. Serve meal program for both breakfast and lunch. Understanding how the program works can help families avoid unexpected à la carte charges and ensure students receive meals at the standard meal price whenever possible.

Under this model, students may choose which meal components they take as they move through the serving line. However, to receive the standard meal price, students must select the required components of a complete meal. Students who do not do so will be charged à la carte pricing instead. This is especially important for students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals, as an incomplete meal may result in charges that otherwise would not apply.

How to make online deposits to student cafeteria accounts

To deposit funds in a students’ Mealtime account online with a credit or debit card, you must first have your student’s Mealtime ID number. Your student should have received a MealTime notification letter at the beginning of their first year at Scecina. If you do not have that student ID number, please contact Casady Williamson at cawilliamson@scecina.org or by calling 317-352-3264

To use the online portal go to: www.mymealtime.com

  1. Create a Mealtime Online account. Click on the “Create new profile” button and enter a username and password. Both username and password must be at least 6 characters.
  2. Sign into Mealtime with your username and password. Click on the Manage Cafeteria Accounts button. Click on “New” in the add student section.
  3. Select Indiana and search for Scecina Memorial High School.
  4. Enter your student’s first name and the provided Student ID number.
  5. Click on Make Deposit and enter the amount for each student. The minimum deposit amount using this portal is $20.00 and there is a small processing fee added to the charge. Continue to Billing to enter your payment information. MealTime does not accept ACH payments at this time.

Other

Students may charge up to $20 without funds available which will result in a negative balance on their account. Once the $20 negative balance is reached, they will only be permitted to purchase one of each meal (breakfast and lunch) per day. Second entrees and a la carte purchases will not be permitted again until sufficient funds are available in their account.

Students may not use another student’s PIN to make purchases. There will be no exceptions in order to safeguard every student’s account.

All balances at the end of the year (both positive and negative) will carry over to the following school year.

At the end of a student’s enrollment at Scecina, every effort should be made to ensure the student’s MealTime balance is paid in full. Transcripts and diplomas will not be released until all balances owed are made current.

Funds remaining on a student’s account at the end of his/her enrollment will be processed according to the following steps:

  1. Parents may either request a refund, ask for the funds to be moved to another Scecina MealTime account, or donate the balance to the Scecina Angel Fund* account.
  2. If no request is received, funds will be transferred to the account of a sibling enrolled at Scecina.
  3. If there is no sibling enrolled and no other instructions are received:
  4. Balances of $10.00 or less will automatically be transferred into our Scecina Angel Fund* account.
  5. Balances of $10.01 or more will be refunded via check no later than June 30.

*The Scecina Angel Fund is an account used to help families in need meet their obligations.
