President’s update: A spirit-filled start to the 2025-26 school year

August 13, 2025
Greetings!
The 2025–26 school year of ministry has begun!
As I addressed our four classes of students during new and returning student orientations recently, I asked, “What word or phrase describes how you are feeling right now?”
Some of their answers were: “Excited.” “Nervous.” “Eager.” “Can’t wait to see my friends.”
Through your prayers, advocacy, and stewardship of time, talent, and treasure, you are accompanying these young people as they embark on a new chapter in their lives. Thank you!
During the quick eight summer weeks leading up to the start of this new year, we accomplished much great work with your help in preparation for our students’ arrivals:
- We welcomed an outstanding group of returning Scecina educators – faculty, support staff, coaches, and administrators – as well as a group of highly committed and mission-driven new teachers.
- We took the remaining steps to enroll 15 students in new Career and Technical Education partnerships that will lead to career-enhancing industry certifications for these young people.
- We have launched the new scecina.org website and hope you enjoy exploring the new site.
- Members of our school administration spent a day together, facilitated by a professional, discussing and reflecting on our unique and God-given strengths and abilities.
- We raised $71,000 for new student computers and our media productions program.
- We completed the fiscal year receiving a record of more than $2.2 million in generous new commitments of all sizes up to an estate gift of more than $800,000.
- We hosted more than 100 youth baseball games on the new Larry R. Neidlinger Memorial Baseball and Softball Field that our capital campaign supporters made possible.
You fuel all of this ministry – and much more – through your prayers, advocacy, encouragement, and stewardship. Thank you very much for helping us start this new school year in a very positive and forward-looking fashion under the watchful guidance of the Holy Spirit!
We’re also excited to host the first-ever varsity football scrimmage on our new turf field, Friday, August 15, at 6:00 p.m. Join us at Jim Drury and Dick Dufour Friendship Field as the Crusaders take on Arsenal Tech in a spirited pre-season matchup. It’s a wonderful opportunity to gather as a community, cheer on our student-athletes, and experience this new chapter in Scecina athletics.
Go Crusaders!
